The honours platform enhances exchange between organisations, honours students and teachers from TU Delft in order to create an environment where learning from each other is the primary focus. Together with our partners we create all kinds of events, develop interdisciplinary projects and discuss cases in order to interact easily and spend time to really connect with each other.
The TU Delft supports students who want to be challenged by offering the Honours Programme Delft. On top of their regular study programme honours students work independently or collaboratively on subjects of their own choice. This varies from developing in-depth knowledge of highly technical subjects to working on multidisciplinary projects and on skills such as leadership, debating and philosophy. More information about the Honours Programme Delft can be found on honours.tudelft.nl.
All students that are enrolled in the honours programme are part of the honours community, which is represented by the Honours Association. The Honours Association consists of a board of three commissioners. The board encourages and helps students to explore sources of knowledge beyond the standard curriculum while maintaining the highest standards of excellence in all academic endeavours. At the same time the board also functions as the voice of honours students with regards to all educational matters. The Honours Association can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Honours Association invests in bringing students of different faculties together to build an important and useful network. In order to build and maintain this network as well as keeping the students inspired, motivated and creative, the honours association community organises a variety of different events:
Introduction Day This day is set up especially for first year Honours students to get to know each other, to get inspired to set up honours projects and to learn how to work together. A day filled with inspiring lectures, pitches, workshops and social time which will get the students off to a flying start.
Business Tour The annual HPD Business Tour gives a group of around 25 honours students the opportunity to visit universities and companies abroad. During company visits students deal with various case studies. The students bring a company fresh ideas and knowledge from different disciplines. Previous business tours have visited Germany, Switzerland, and Denmark.
Company dinner The company dinner is intended to provide networking opportunities for company representatives and students in an open and informal way.
Honours concert Annually we organise an honours concert together with the Honours College of Leiden University. The concert is a nice opportunity to mingle with honours students from Leiden and show that honours students are talented in more ways than just academically.
Excursions Excursions are aimed at providing valuable insights for students to discover how other organisations operate and to experience the ambiance of an eminent technical company. With this activity we also expose Honours students to a professional business environment so they are able to obtain a realistic impression of the work field outside of the academic setting.
Social drinks with inspiring speakers Social drinks are an activity provide students with an informal setting to debate and learn more about interesting topics and to get into contact with inspiring speakers.
Lunch lectures Lunch lectures provide opportunities for students to learn more about a specific topic.
